reflections

Looking  at Richard Serra's work.  The ability of the art piece to alter the space it is sited in and peoples perception of that space as they interact with the artwork.  Used reflective surfaces to add another dimension - the perceived space, the real space and the reflected space.

This piece was mentioned by Cormac in this mornings lecture, in relation to other people doing the work for the artist - his concept, their work. Just happened to turn up in Artinfo newsletter email today.

Ai Weiwei, "Kui Hua Zi (Sunflower Seeds)," 2008, one ton of handmade porcelain sunflower seeds

Gerhard Richter, "5 Türen II (5 Doors II)," 1967, oil on canvas, in five parts

Another work featured in newsletter, thought it would be worth exploring further for brief we are working on.

Interesting the way all the doors are open to different degrees, intriguing to wonder what is beyond - focusing on the space/area behind the doors.
