continuing saga

Looking at reflections of a space and 2d / 3d.shapes and the space they occupy.I have also been looking a the space  that sound occupies in the context of "noise" created by clutter and mess.  Using a graphic equalizer type of display so that the path of the sound can be plotted.

Adrien Missika

Dome











This building was built for the Tripoli International Fair and designed by Oscar Niemeyer (between 1968-75). Due to civil war, the building was never completed and never open to the public. It is now just an incomplete ruin.  Missika has made a film 'Dome' featuring the first person to interact with the building.

There is a sense of other world about it, as though its a whole other universe.  There is an air of desolation and desertion - everything has just stopped, unfinished and unused.  The loan explorer highlights the contradiction - a building that should have been thronged with people, noise and activity instead entertains just one individual who makes little impact on the vast space.

Nest 2

He has created a large pavilion using hosepipe, wooden framework and cable ties,  for people to sit and socialise in. He "wanted to explore how to transform a linear material into a 3D habitable social space".

Interesting how something so 'everyday' and mundane can be transformed into something aesthetically  pleasing and alter the space to focus on a social activity.  The title 'Nest' adds to the sense of a separate area created that offers a haven to gather in.
